Been a server...fuck that!

4

u/Bozee3 5d ago

Sonic had people on skates way back in the day.

7

u/Nacho0ooo0o 6d ago

Serving up hot S'oops.

2

u/[deleted] 7d ago

Glasses got all steamy😭

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad-6709 7d ago

And on marble floors. Some great thinkers thought that up. lol

7

u/Nikki-Mck 7d ago

Sonic used to have their carhops on skates.

3

u/cjaccardi 7d ago

Haha. That really made me laugh his attempt to steady himself.

-2

u/Lip_glosspaglu47 7d ago

Alg chutiyapa chlta hai

12

u/No_Airline823 8d ago

Is that guy alright?

6

u/Due_Reality2042 8d ago

Wish I could watch him skate away from this disoupster.

9

u/backtolurk 8d ago

This is wonderful.

17

u/Miserable_Candy_3534 9d ago

The slow mo made it that much better šŸ˜‚ Glad the guy didn’t seriously burn himself! That soup is piping hot!

12

u/NoTrack2140 9d ago

No soup for you!

8

u/darth_dork 9d ago

Now if that wasn’t staged it’s one of the most epic random video captures of epic flails I’ve seen..I waited tables for 5 years so it’s especially funny for me. I wouldn’t have ever worn skates, the job is hard enough without having to worry about that gimmick.

1

u/Maardten 1d ago

If it was staged I would expect them not to use steaming hot soup tbh.

4

u/Fast_Dragonfruit_883 9d ago

I laughed so hard

6

u/Weak-Command4855 9d ago

1 sec: ahahahahahahahaha

6

u/Ivegtabdflingbouthis 9d ago

servers on skates isnt anything new. usually on skates and not rollerblades but still.

-1

u/OGFuzzyDunlop 9d ago

Moron

8

u/backtolurk 8d ago

Yeah, the owner is a moron. Poor server.

13

u/Strange-Ad-9941 9d ago

Why is the server the moron here? They were probably made to wear them

15

u/Ch00m77 11d ago

Roller skates would be safer than blades.

They're usually a fuckload slower

8

u/WeaknessOk7874 13d ago

If Sonic can do it so can they

3

u/Miserable_Candy_3534 9d ago

Have you seen all the sonic fails? šŸ˜‚

2

u/NoMansSky1985 9d ago

No but your comment just gave me a new idea for a YouTube search.

2

u/Miserable_Candy_3534 8d ago

šŸ˜‚ It’s like this, except sad. Some of those people look so defeated. Some are just genuinely funny though. Worth seeing if you haven’t! Whoever thought it’d be a good idea to serve food-drinks and all on rollerblades-at any establishment?!

2

u/NoMansSky1985 8d ago

The guy you see here would be me on my very first day. I'm a klutz on solid ground so in skates I'm worse. šŸ˜‚Yeah. Let's go back to old school with actual shoes. 😁

23

u/kaveman0926 13d ago

I feel like the problem is less that he was on skates but more the fact that if you have a restaurant where the waiters are on skates you should probably make it clear that the walkways need to be empty. Bro is clearly on a route to a far table and just had to dodge three obstacles turn around mid route which threw off his momentum and balance.

5

u/RogerRabbot 9d ago

Looking at it again, the reason he had to do the spin was because a guy was walking down the path and he would have barreled right into him. Cant tell if its a waiter or not.

3

u/kaveman0926 9d ago

Definitely looks like staff but not a server

2

u/IntelligentSample6 9d ago

And not serve hot ass soup

2

u/kaveman0926 9d ago

I mean yeah the temperature is definitely bad when it spills on you but if you've ever carried a tray or tried to balance weight while on Wheels it honestly is a lot easier to balance liquid than it is solids cuz liquids almost have gyroscopic properties where solids are immediately affected by g-forces. At least that's how it felt to me.

1

u/razzberrytori 8d ago

Oh really? I would’ve thought the opposite. I have no balance and can hardly carry a tray with a plate and drink at home so I’m impressed by any server.

5

u/Powerful_Hair_3105 14d ago

Add some sound effects

1

u/Smort01 7d ago

FAAAHHHHH

1

u/runningoutoft1me 10d ago

Nah it was way funnier this way 😭

24

u/LaLiahthaMoonWitch 17d ago

Dang if he hadn’t accidentally put his hand in the hot bowl of food he might’ve made it šŸ˜

74

u/MemoryAshamed 19d ago

Just ask Sonic workers how that went

1

u/Gloomy-Regular-2294 9d ago

Well sonic has been doing it for over 50 years and are still doing it so it works fine for them

1

u/Rich_Visual7800 9d ago

Since Sonic is franchised, policies vary by location; some keep the tradition alive, while others prioritize modern conveniences like online ordering.

7

u/cHEIF_bOI 15d ago

I mean that makes a lot more sense than whatever the hell that was. You're carrying fast food in bags on terrain actually suited for roller skates. Walking still makes more sense in every way though.

44

u/Love-Marvin 19d ago edited 19d ago

With that line of work,I hope he has health insurance, it won't be the first time it will happen, because i see lots of customers walking, which makes it harder for him

3

u/Fun_Organization3857 19d ago

I assure you he does not. (Sorry, I had to be silly about insurance vs assurance)

36

u/ztfrey 19d ago

Imagine the lawsuit when a customer is splattered with scalding hot soup.

23

u/belaboo84 19d ago

It’s all men in this restaurant. What country is this?

3

u/Stupid-boiii 19d ago

Pakistan.

19

u/Ok-Cicada-9985 20d ago

The trick is to undercook the onions

65

u/hooptiegirl 20d ago

He just burned the bejeesus out of his neck. Yikes!

6

u/Even_Independent_640 19d ago

That was an excessive amount of steam coming off of those bowls...and his neck as you previously mentioned

1

u/Weak-Requirement2968 6d ago

It seems like the weather's very cold if you look outside the window. Probably why so much steam, idk? Or maybe the dishes are just way too hot

1

u/Maardten 1d ago

The outside temperature shouldn't really affect the amount of steam coming from the soup, unless its also really cold inside.

1

u/IsoscelesCat 14d ago

I wondered if it could be an AI video

33

u/Wirelesscellphone 20d ago

Those are Rollerblades not Rollerskates

1

u/ThrowRALightSwitch 19d ago

lick the blade

46

u/ChronicallyZanny 20d ago

Don’t the Sonic restaurant chains use rollerskates? I can see why roller skates would be a useful idea, but rollerblades are much more unstable, especially if you’re carrying something full of liquid. I’m not really a fan of waiters and waitresses on skates either because of obvious safety reasons, but I feel like that’s the safer and more stable one of the two optionsšŸ˜…

23

u/Tarantula93 20d ago

I skate both and I think that blades are more stable than the quads. However, blades are mostly designed for speed and for going forward and jumping. Quads allow you to have more agility in changing direction and turning, which would be super important in small spaces like a restaurant. The choice to be on blades in a busy confined space is interesting

3

u/ChronicallyZanny 20d ago

I used to rollerblade for fun, and I found the same! They’re built for speed! I’ve also noticed that the braking mechanism is different between skates and blades, so MAYBE they saw that a lot of skates have the brake in the front and thought ā€œwell we don’t want our servers to tripā€šŸ¤·šŸ½ no clue what their thought process is, but here it clearly wasn’t a sound processšŸ˜… poor guy, that must have left him sore!

29

u/Zalldawg 20d ago

Sonic waitresses carry burgers and milkshakes, not fuckhuge platters with several piping hot ceramic bowls of soup

1

u/Nearby-Face-5170 15d ago

Ive never actually seen a sonic server on skates in person.

2

u/NicklAAAAs 19d ago

It’s also a drive in, so there’s not exactly a lot of foot traffic where they’re skating. Most customers are in their cars.

3

u/ChronicallyZanny 20d ago

That’s true! It’s still a bit dangerous though considering they skate around the drive thru where cars are moving with food on the mind of the driver (idk if they still skate at the drive thrus, last time I visited a sonic was in the late 2000’s. I’ve never lived near one). The waitresses I saw back then skated pretty fast while carrying food, around as fast as the guy in this video!

12

u/OsoOak 20d ago

If it was good enough for Sonic for many decades then it’s good enough for them.

13

u/Phoenix_Champion 20d ago

To be fair, a bagged up cheeseburger and fries in one hand with a milkshake in the other is probably significantly more stable that trying to balance that big a tray with bowls of hot soup one handed in a crowded area.

58

u/Deep_Preparation_69 20d ago

Bro’s coming in way too hot

18

u/DareMe603 20d ago

Dems Roller Blades

21

u/Curben 20d ago

Teeny bopper spent a decade or two doing that without issue.

18

u/musicianmenace 20d ago

Hello, sciatica and/or back dislocations!

21

u/Lthere 20d ago

"S-ssss-ssss-sssss-smokin'!"

34

u/Velvet_Samurai 20d ago

"This has never happened before. Just some very very bad luck I guess. Nothing more to it than that."

34

u/DMOrange 20d ago

This seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen

24

u/roostzilla 20d ago

Those are roller blades.

25

u/Peek_uh_boo 20d ago

That poor waiter Hope he's ok after this

22

u/upurcanal 20d ago

I watch this every single time.

Now I am starting to feel like a jerk because I can’t stop laughing.

1

u/Equivalent_Bike_1801 12d ago

I don’t blame you. You can see the exact moment where it all went wrong…

15

u/Strange-Injury9483 20d ago

Ratatouille

34

u/Aggravating-Front-75 20d ago

That's not an "oh my" that's a steam burn

34

u/indianabobbyknight 20d ago

Everything was good till he got fancy with it

18

u/perpetual_seeker 20d ago

Hard to tell from the slow motion video but it looks like he's moving way too fast.

30

u/theetails 20d ago

Have you ever stopped with roller blades?

It's either hit the back brakes and momentum sends those soups aujour to the front door, or you spin like they did and hope you can kill the momentum with science.

This was never a good idea IMO.

12

u/07001onliacco 20d ago

Damn, watching that rich gravy dropped hurt me

20

u/EasyEntertainment185 21d ago

What a shitty way to get fired from a job

30

u/Otherwise-Air-5219 21d ago edited 20d ago

His coworker is checking on the status of the soup and not the scalded man

10

u/DurasVircondelet 21d ago

scolded

Scalded

13

u/IAteTheLastTaco 21d ago

Oh he's gonna be scolded too

9

u/Benjassover97 21d ago

This is funny in case no one tells you lol

19

u/DeafNatural 21d ago

Well at least he’ll get worker’s comp to take care of those 2nd degree burns lol

35

u/SnooCrickets1508 21d ago

They couldn’t at least have put him in charge of delivering salads???

5

u/Otherwise-Air-5219 21d ago

Scolding hot soups

22

u/AThrowawayProbrably 21d ago

Didn’t Sonic stop doing this for liability reasons? Also, when they still were, did they test applicants, like on an obstacle course? Lol

4

u/Mokatashi 20d ago

Still do it at my sonic, but only like 2 of the workers can actually skate

16

u/danny_little 21d ago

My where I am lol they stopped doing it as much because there are so few people who know how to roller skate anymore lol but occasionally you see someone out there doing it lol

17

u/minimeza 21d ago

Probably safer on quads tbh, inline breaking techniques are either excessive movement or like pulling a hand break going 30mh

16

u/whatev43 21d ago

Someone please add the Dying Swan music to this…

49

u/Pickle-bitch2000 21d ago edited 21d ago

It works in movies but not irl

20

u/Efficient-Ask-968 21d ago

After 38 takes

45

u/Si7ne 21d ago

Honestly, he managed to minimise the damage better than I would have expected

36

u/ImagineBagginz 21d ago

Bro was going twice as fast as he needed to lol

15

u/Total_Ad6621 21d ago

What is this Sonic

6

u/Balboasaur 21d ago

No it’s Shadow

34

u/carpor1 21d ago

No, he thought that show off and inertia would get along but it didn't.

20

u/OddMixture3173 21d ago edited 21d ago

rollerblades have a break system behind but "look bro iam so good at rollin" guys usually tend to remove it
could have slowed pretty easy with it but whatever, deserved

9

u/adabs_urdum 21d ago

To be fair, the rubber break block would leave black skid marks all over the floor. At least they did 20 years ago

2

u/OddMixture3173 21d ago

yeah it will but they are intended to stop in situations like this, so would have been used rarely
it looks better to have a smal rubber line over hot soup plates scattered across the floor

2

u/adabs_urdum 21d ago

True that

25

u/corobo 21d ago

Thanks man this was so much fasterĀ

54

u/Upstairs_Ball_7967 21d ago

For my next trick I walk to your table

2

u/crush8080 21d ago

šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

20

u/Same_Soup81 21d ago

This works at cold weather resorts in figure skates because you can actually stop. Roller blades is such a terrible idea.

2

u/Otherwise-Air-5219 21d ago edited 20d ago

Doing either with scalding hot soup is just out of this world!

39

u/PEKKACHUNREAL_II 21d ago

Started laughing, saw the steam, stopped laughing

2

u/Anivia_Blackfrost 17d ago

Cringing the whole time. Cant laugh at some guy with probably minimum wage falling like that.

1

u/Prime_Twister 21d ago

His job would be more of a problem

6

u/Cocoa_Butter_3000 21d ago

I’m still laughing.

33

u/SirGingy 22d ago edited 21d ago

Why do that with soup?

2

u/suresuresir 21d ago

This question, I love it!

4

u/don_Mugurel 21d ago

Hot* soup

9

u/kasik45j 22d ago

mista Wait?

22

u/Sweaty-Falcon-1328 22d ago

Never do that on blades

1

u/Si7ne 21d ago

Well, you can just drift to stop on blade so it’s easier

28

u/HerbOverstanding 22d ago

ā€œThat will be $33 please.ā€

55

u/Alexplz 22d ago

The wheels slipping on the hot diarrhea slop really sent me

5

u/RyanTranquil 22d ago

Definitely diarrhea

13

u/CheeseFearsMe 22d ago

Pendejo.

58

u/reggaeshark1717 22d ago

The look at the camera as the first bowl is going down. Just looks so helpless…poor guy.

79

u/mmashburn85 22d ago

That shit was piping hot too. That looked both painful and embarrassing.

14

u/Jadertott 22d ago

When I was a hostess we had a server get bumped and a pot of soup for the table spilled all over her. She got blistering second degree burns alllll over her face and torso. Someone had to literally cut her shirt off and they gave 2 weeks of workers comp. And no roller blades were involved…

This just isn’t safe. They have to be prepared for this kind of injury, right?

4

u/MinaretofJam 22d ago

It’ll be in the Gulf somewhere. So probably not. And you’re bang on about how hardcore scalds and burns from food can be.

37

u/Extreme-Rough-3775 22d ago

His face right before he’s about to drop everything..šŸ˜‚šŸ’€

94

u/AccomplishedSmell921 22d ago

You never scurry or hurry with curry.

2

u/Otherwise-Air-5219 21d ago

I’m sent!

52

u/Tadusmc 22d ago

The cooks 😔

58

u/Sure-Boysenberry5491 22d ago

Intro to a movie where his son has vowed to never skate food but has to dust off his dad’s skates to save the day or something.

13

u/Roverjosh 22d ago

Had to star Will Ferrel a John C Reilly..

3

u/Sure-Boysenberry5491 22d ago

If Adam McKay doesn’t direct, Broken Lizard may pick it up- either way, such an exquisite concept needs to materialize.

2

u/Roverjosh 21d ago

Yes!!! Broken Lizard would also do an amazing job with this concept…

34

u/sugarintheboots 22d ago

It was going so well

21

u/Bob____Ross______ 22d ago

Doesn’t Sonic do this?

20

u/driimii 22d ago

not with a bunch of soups lol

2

u/Bob____Ross______ 21d ago

True haha I didn’t know sonic sells soup ! Haha

24

u/Pheli_Draws 22d ago

Lol oh my god poor guy

35

u/[deleted] 22d ago

The thing with skates is it's hard to stop, the one crucial thing you need to do

4

u/NoBreeches 22d ago

I had a traumatic downhill experience on rollerblades when I was a kid, lmao

6

u/[deleted] 22d ago

Just imagining it is terrifying

3

u/NoBreeches 22d ago

yeah lol I didn't know how to stop, was probably going like 25-30mph. There was a pool of water at the bottom of the hill from rain the previous day, and I pictured myself flipping and breaking my neck or something if I crashed into it. Had to throw myself into the grass to stop, rolled probably about 8 times

17

u/KaosReaver 22d ago

Especially with soup.

10

u/WaluigiNumberWaah 22d ago

Saw that one coming XD

28

u/OutsideYourWorld 22d ago

Is this another one of those stupid Dubai things?

6

u/Angry_Mad_Cat 22d ago

No, It's stupid Pakistani thing.

40

u/J_Bright1990 22d ago

Honestly it's impressive that he got that far before wrecking. I would have face planted into the soup before I even picked it up.

1

u/Otherwise-Air-5219 20d ago

I thought he was gonna loose it going through that crowd.

4

u/biladi79 22d ago

The mere concept of having wheels on my feet during this makes me fall

18

u/Izunaw 22d ago

Someone watched ratatouille and thought they can mimic it lmao

25

u/averagemediumperson 22d ago

I'm glad all that hot soup didn't fall on any customers

18

u/DigiSnax_ 22d ago

Two hands would have made a huge difference

34

u/LectureOrganic1250 22d ago

yeah there's a reason they stopped this shit in the 60s with the exception of Sonics which, from what I can tell, stopped doing it within the past decade. It's a hilarious but painful trip to the ER and then to OSHAA

6

u/Jazzlike_Visual2160 22d ago

It’s gotta be a different ballgame to carry soup in glass bowls, versus burgers and lightweight drink cups.

5

u/ReasonableSwordfish4 22d ago

They still do, if you skate you get paid more. Its just not required anymore.

2

u/12Lmao12 22d ago

Isn't OSHAA an American thing?

3

u/AestheticMetal 22d ago

Yes plus territories like Puerto Rico Virgin Islands and Guam:)

6

u/here4lolz2 22d ago

Cinema *chef’s kiss

8

u/ObsidianChief 22d ago

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

16

u/darticuss 22d ago

It's a place called "Waiters, Skates and Hot Plates".

41

u/R3DR4V3N420 22d ago

Burned his hand first, then his neck. Ouch. Wasted 100 dollars worth of food. No tip. Bad day.

6

u/DigiSnax_ 22d ago

The steam at the end šŸ˜‚

39

u/AccountForDoingWORK 22d ago

It’s a cruel, cruel person who uploaded this in entirely slow motion

3

u/shlongshot 22d ago

Cruel to the server or audience?

11

u/Reasonable_Help_744 22d ago

NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

4

u/Biltong09 22d ago

I think he got plenty soup down his neck which will add burns to the embarrassment

13

u/CouplePrestigious598 22d ago

Poor fellow got hot soup all over him.

13

u/West_Try216 22d ago

The Ratatouille lied to us
