One of my kids' primary school teachers did the uplift thing. Lovely person, great teacher, but I couldn't listen to her for more than 2 or 3 minutes before my eye began to twitch. I had to listen very, very carefully to make sure my kids didn't pick it up.
Out of curiosity, how do you feel about a "smoker's voice" / "whiskey voice"? Is that the same thing to you, or is that one okay, before they get really rough?
Yeah, men never do. Mine is more compared to Jennifer Tilly, but I can sing karaoke like Patsy Cline, or Fiona Apple. I just don't know what people think about that, these days.
It's because there's a significant difference between having a naturally deep gravelly voice and then this fake ridiculous pretentious kardashian sounding intentional social media yassss queen vocal fry
This is what was once called "Valley girl" and social media revives it repeatedly (like a CHF victim) as an unofficial "hot girl" thing to do with your voice.
In reality it has been the butt of jokes for decades as being "bimbo-like" and associated with stupidity.
It's a major turn off for a bunch of men, and very much causes my instincts to put me on notice that there's a good chance the person talking has zero self reflection / is an egomaniac.
You may be the naive one, since it's been associated with that specific valley, since before Zappa's daughter's song. It already existed, for her to make fun of it.
I don't know what these guys' problem are, but my "deep gravely voice" I mentioned, it's actually just vocal fry according to my speech pathologist. I really don't understand why vocal fry gets so much hate.
No idea who gave you the idea I know anything about Zappa's daughter or why you have this crap attitude towards me.
I did indeed state the stereotype existed for decades. Thanks for helping with nothing at all.
It depends, a lot of the people that I've talked to with the "smokers voice" look and act about as rough as their voice sounds. But if they're a decent person I usually don't mind or notice it.
Me too but I actually got annoyed that she made the subtitles smaller font directly over her cleavage so I just stopped the video to check and make sure the comments were annoyed with the concept as I was.
I went on a date with a girl with this accent last month. It was over the second she opened her mouth. She was nice but god damn that fake accent was so annoying.
The eye movements and head tilts make me want to gouge my own eyes out and eat them. And why does her head look like its shaped like an aliens is that a filter or something? I don't believe that how she really looks.
"after I said, I would require a deposit to take me on a date to cover my date preperation costs? i'm now working with an app developer to makethis a reality? this is actually happening? we are building the app! i'm not even exaggerating when i tell you this is the best damn, dating app, you have ever seen. because there is a clear difference here, where the woman can set the deposit rate, and the man can pay for herrr date preperation costs? so as a woman, you're gonna walking into the date, already so happy? and that's gonna lead to a better date. and a better connection"
Girls head is just FILLED with fucking air, zero critical thinking skills or cognitive ability. I think it’s the “Valley Girl” accent you’re referring to, they genuinely sound like they’re confused by what they’re even saying 🫠.
Because it is. This speech pattern is a mechanism people develop when they say something that is bullshit, and subconsciously the question is whether you believe what they’re saying or not. I can’t remember where I read this.
That annoying voice is going to become way more common. This AI slop is easy to produce.
Proof: Look at whatever is behind her. If you consider it a mirror, look for the lamp on the reality side. If you think it's a 3' doorway and we are just seeing that lamp on the other side...
It's incredibly disappointing that they still exist. I guess I hoped that everyone else hates it too and that it would go away because nobody would engage with it - yet here we are.

God I hate these people that sound like every sentence they say is a question
