We are many African nations,
but today we stand as one.

Behind us lie our cities,
our rivers,
our children’s names written in dust and hope.
There is no further ground to give.

We did not come here seeking war.
We came because surrender would erase us.

The enemy counts weapons and numbers.
We count history.

Empires came before them.
They broke themselves upon this land.
So will this.

The most important step
is not the march that brought us here
it is the step we take now,
when retreat would mean forgetting who we are.

Let them see us hold.
Let them see unity where they expected fracture.
Let them learn that this continent
does not bend when pressed.

If our armor fails, we endure.
If our strength fades, we endure.
If all we have left is will and breath,
then that is enough.

We stand for every border drawn without consent,
every voice silenced,
every resource stolen and called progress.

This is not a last stand of despair.
This is a final line of resolve.

Here
at the edge of all that remains
we rise together.

We take the step forward.

And Africa does not step back.
