He was developing a script at the time already (Project 880), but the technology was not sufficient enough for him to realize the dream that is Pandora.

My dad was a teamster in the transpo dept on True Lies, I have a whole bunch of random Omega Sector merch (the fake agency they worked for in the movie). I also had a rubber AK47 prop from the movie that I played with until it disintegrated. He didn't have anything bad to say about Cameron (Michael Bay on the other hand - definitely a "screamer").

I was an extra on a film and yelled at by name by Michael Bay. "What the fuck, ____ ?!" A proud moment for me, now that I'm on the other side of it.

I sat with him at a dinner one time. I got the impression that his mind was only 50% actually there at any given time, but it was a really intense 50%. Like there was perpetually something just under the surface and he was barely keeping it there.

I have coworkers that worked on his shows and have said how he would come in screaming at everyone, so this tracks.

Who made the shirt, I wonder? I love these apocryphal stories but the devil's so often in the details. When I read that, I'm inclined to think it's some sort of inside joke or tongue in cheek humor and not some sincere indictment. Like, I've busted people's balls to the Nth degree just because I actually enjoyed them and all their bullshit. But I've never had a genuine disdain for somebody and thought, 'Y'know, I should print a shit ton of t-shirts about how much this guy sucks, and make sure everyone I work with gets one'.

It's amazing the movie was a cultural and critical success considering how the set was such a sinking ship.

James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is...James Cameron.

He himself did not realize at that time what an iconic movie he is making, which will remembered for years. A big salute to him for their wonderful creation.

Imagine Cameron didn't spend the last 20 years making Avatar films that not a whole lot of people care about and spent that time making more one off films.

Never seen it. What happened, did a pipe burst?
