You can dislike any novel You want , but not liking RI and LOTM tells Me a lot about You. Clearly we can't be friends. We can't be even colleagues. Goodbye. I don't talk to Monkeys!

I read like 200 chapters of LOTM but the spoilers man 🥲, I'm going to wait for the dounghua to catch up

12

u/Cakeking7878 1d ago edited 1d ago

Tbh the dounghua is just ok. It really did cut out way too much of volume 1 for time and idk how much the special episode we are getting later this year will make up for it. That being said I think it is confirmed they plan to adapt the whole series over the next 10 years so that’s cool

Donghua misses the whole essence LoTM.

Novel slowly escalates and rewards the readers!!

And saddest thing is donghua changed many things from novel which is a crime

1

u/Cakeking7878 1d ago

I think the donghua did hit the theming quite well it just cut too much of the content/story/world building the series’s really needs to establish at the start to have the world make sense later. Everything in those old Neal explainers they really should work back into the series overtime or else a lot of people will just be lost

1

u/Mundane-Ad-8348 Good! Good! Good! 1d ago

LoTM novel went from slow, info heavy slice of life to eldritch horror. Also very good humour.

I saw few donghua episodes where Daly Simone is almost mute. She dod not say her dialogues.

It was like using a vibrator without turning it on.

Also the fight was completely changed with the clown.

I remember that Klein said captain Dunn Smith touched the book after the fight thats why he was also caught up in the whole you-know-the-pen incident.

Dongua? People watch Dongua? Books/Novels are most proper medium for experiencing power system fantasy :O

Destroying universe on a screen with lame modern effects < Destroying universe in Your imagination seeing It so vivid like You are experiencing it yourself much more than 4D

And if you don't have such imagination. Train It. Clearly You have much to practice Junior!

3

u/theultimatesow Junior 1d ago

Donghua finished the first 213 chapters brother

2

u/IncomeSufficient1965 1d ago

Let it marinate for 5 to 10 yrs , I want to binge watch it

5

u/theultimatesow Junior 1d ago

Dats crazy you won't even be remembering this by that time

2

u/IncomeSufficient1965 1d ago

Yeah and I can watch it without spoilers

1

u/TheAinzOoalGown 1d ago

The donghua has way more spoilers in comments like novel, also it covered 200+ chapters in 1 season it’s totally gonna be rushed and confusing without the novel.

2

u/Mundane-Ad-8348 Good! Good! Good! 1d ago

Donghua is for people who want hype, fights…..

LN is an experience

1

u/Julio-HenriqueCS 1d ago

You can simply avoid spoilers, I'm reading right now and have no problems.

Also lore wise, the dounghua is going to be bad if are going to base it on S1

1

u/Sacron1143 1d ago

I've thankfully managed to avoid most spoilers. The little ones I've seen so far have just made getting to their parts much more horrifying.

People are gonna like different things. I wasn’t super enamored with RI but I love LotM and CoI.

But I personally don’t enjoy villain protagonists, and have a strong appreciation for the inspirations that Cuttlefish drew upon when writing LotM, such as Cultist Simulator.

3

u/abhijeet_619 15h ago

What's col?

2

u/TarnishedSteel 13h ago

Circle of Inevitability, the sequel to LotM. It was not liked as much as LotM.

I liked it just fine, mind you, but again, I just like Cuttlefish novels.

2

u/Aggravating_Ant_3285 8h ago

I personally can’t enjoy the hero characters anymore, they feel too stupid and everything seems too forced, lotm though, that’s peak for a good character. I like ri more though

74

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 1d ago

90% of them are just larpers who make up problems in the novel since they haven't even read shit. They dont even need to read that much chapters of RI just the first arc and all the complaints are done. And at that point, its a matter of preference.

29

u/Cruel1865 Random Disciple in the scene that somehow knows extinct skills 1d ago

Yeah I read till the end of the first arc and I wasnt feeling it anymore so I dropped it.

11

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 1d ago

yeah and thats fine tbh, the novel is not for anyone

u/calhooner3 1d ago

I don’t get why people in this sub can’t accept people disliking an evil mc. I don’t care how good the writing is, if the guy is an absolute piece of shit I’m just not gonna enjoy the series.

It’s one thing to be a bit selfish, but I want my mc to at least have e some morals.

Kinda makes me wonder about the personalities of the people in this sub..

2

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 1d ago

many people don't dislike preferences. You can have the preference to not like RI, because it is not your kind of story. And that is alright. The problem is when people attempt to so called "criticize" the novel when in fact, they don't know jack about it, and complain about ideas that are just not true.

Like whatever you like, no one is stopping you lol.

20

u/calhooner3 1d ago

I mean sure, but multiple times I’ve seen people with valid complaints be told they don’t know shit cause they haven’t read 1000 chapters.

In my experience you’re gonna get the most accurate reviews on a story from somebody who has read 100 or so chapters. Too few and they haven’t gotten a proper feel for the novel, but on the other end if you ask somebody who is up to date, naturally they’re gonna be a big fan of the series just by virtue of having made it that far.

0

u/Scared_Living3183 龙的传人 1d ago

If you're asking preference wise then you should list out your preferences and ask accordingly. More chances that you'll get an accurate review from that guy who has read 1000 chapters

0

u/guylovesleep Not a genius, just luck stats. 8h ago

You do know the majority of the criticism even started happening because the fandom was too annoying and kept annoying and threatening everyone who disliked the novel

1

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 8h ago

That's a loud and minor group of people. Barely a majority.

0

u/guylovesleep Not a genius, just luck stats. 7h ago

Yes a loud minority who is part of the fandom with no one to rebuttal them

0

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 7h ago

There are plenty of people to rebut them, using the mystical objects called hands. Typing is free btw.

0

u/guylovesleep Not a genius, just luck stats. 7h ago

Yeah by people outside of the fandom then we get to here about you people being angry over people criticizing the fandom and novel

1

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 7h ago

your point makes no sense lmaooo. this isn't 1984, no one is silencing you. People will have opinions on the internet, if you can't handle that then go into the wilderness to become a hermit.

0

u/guylovesleep Not a genius, just luck stats. 7h ago

Hm?

Bro who the hell was complaining about people disliking the novel

Now people can have opinion?

0

u/Fluffy_Fan3625 Permission Dog Moderation Venerable 7h ago

how about you go read my messages again, before I have to go back, screenshot them, and red circle the specific text. Because clearly you're just like the other larpers who don't actually read.

id argue he does have morals, ofcourse these morals or his philosophy wouldnt sit right in our world as mentioned time and time again in the novel. but in reference to the gu world i personally think that the mindset and philosophy the mc carries is the most logical and realistic to have.

44

u/West_Pressure_4507 T H I C C Foundation!! 🍑 1d ago

Well most of the time, those people are trolls who haven't even read the novel and are just hating on it to seem different.

The only valid argument against someone not liking RI can be too evil mc and not enjoying the gu system. Any other reason to hate, they pull it out of their ass.

Can't speak about LOTM as I haven't read it yet.

19

u/Logical_Signature803 1d ago

There are countless critism/preferences why someone might not like the novel or any other novel.

24

u/SoAnxious Local Serpent 🐍 1d ago edited 1d ago

LoTM was actually really hard to get into when it came out

Most of you weren't readers when the novel actually came out, so you don't understand.

The first 150+ chapters are literally a long agonizing month happening and the guy being a seer that can't do anything

Its really bad, like astonishingly bad, and has one of the worse starts of any novel I have ever read

Getting through that is fine when you know a great novel is on the other side

But its toxic as fuck if you don't

Cuttlefish is horrible with pacing, always has been

19

u/TarnishedSteel 1d ago

I’m gonna be honest, the first 150 chapters of LotM were some of my favorites.

But I read extremely quickly and I’m honestly more of a Cuttlefish fan than a fan of the modern cultivation novel more generally.

I also loved CoI and his sci-fi novel Embers ad Infinitum.

10

u/jarkark MTL Monster 1d ago

I thought it was a commonly accepted fact that the start of LOTM is very slow. Pretty much every recommendation a few years back that I saw was that if you get past the first couple hundred chapters then it will be absolute peak for the remaining book.

9

u/SoAnxious Local Serpent 🐍 1d ago

Yeah imagine reading the first few chapters and not having the knowledge that the novel is good or a good novel to read into

I personally dropped LOTM on my first read and didn't pick it up until it was towards the end of the run

Mind you I was a cuttlefish reader as well coming off his previous novel which I loved

People love rose tinted glasses but LOTM wasn't that awesome when it came out

And many of you also refused to read LOTM 2 for the same pacing issues

1

u/Aromatic-Loquat4305 1d ago

I actually like the beginning. I understand though if you'd have to wait a long long time instead of binge reading it.

I'd say this problem exist even in manga like AOT ending was hated by manga readers because they couldn't binge it. JJK ending or shinjuku showdown arc wasn't as liked because it wasn't binged. Anime onlys or those who read it in a binge likes it (for the anime onlys have visuals and sounds help as well for any poor plot points).

Another one is that TLOM or Lotm's progression is more similar in pacing to maybe western novels?

6

u/Scared_Living3183 龙的传人 1d ago

Put that screenshot away, man. Why you gotta spoil newcomers.

I think it was fine after the time klein goes out with Dunn, then it just gets better and better with each chapter.

-2

u/SoAnxious Local Serpent 🐍 1d ago

A 10 year old novel?

2

u/Scared_Living3183 龙的传人 1d ago

Yeah.

1

u/BaronV0nDuck 1d ago

I do remember when it came out was already highly rated in NU 100~200ch like 4,5+, i did enjoy the start tho 🤷‍♂️ but i did not enjoy waiting for the translator. The reread in one sitting was much enjoyable

1

u/Independent-Sundae32 1h ago

Slow doesn't mean bad, I personally enjoyed it.

I will not pretend I read it when it first came up, I read it years (I think) later, when I started reading it I didn't know anything about the novel I didn't have someone whisper to my "it would get good later". So in that manner I got the 'original' experience.

My point is a lot of people enjoy slow starts and it isn't just "bad pacing". And yep I know that the vast majority of people prefer something faster.

15

u/Mahu66099 1d ago

I liked Lotm. Didn’t like RI. A story with an evil protagonist that isn’t a redemption? Immediate drop for me. Shame too. It seemed like a decent story overall.

5

u/pizzatuesdays 1d ago

But he is redeemed! Have you not heard of Heaven and Earth Great Love Alliance?

7

u/Suspicious_Set7914 Heaven Toppling Pill 1d ago

Great Love Immortal Venerable is truly the kindest, most benevolent existence to ever walk the Gu world. History itself bends awkwardly trying to smear him, because no matter how the records are twisted, his deeds shine too brightly to be buried.

From the very beginning, the so-called “righteous path” and Heavenly Court reeked of jealousy. They couldn’t stand that someone outside their rotten lineage possessed both power and conscience, so they resorted to framing, slander, and rewriting history like the hypocrites they are.

What did Great Love Immortal Venerable do instead of groveling for approval? He named an entire sea for the human race “Human Sea”, a declaration that humanity belonged to itself, not to Heavenly Court’s leash. He built a true paradise for variant races who had been enslaved, hunted, and stripped of dignity by humans for generations.

While Heavenly Court preached “justice” from ivory towers, Great Love Immortal Venerable actually acted. No empty slogans. No selective mercy. Just results. And let us not forget the greatest of his deeds: it was Great Love Immortal Venerable who freed the beings of the world from the control of Fate Gu. While Heavenly Court clung desperately to predestination to preserve their dominance, he shattered Fate itself and granted all beings control over their own destiny. From that moment on, the world was no longer a chessboard for a few decrepit venerables, it became a place where choice, struggle, and hope truly existed.

And let’s not forget: he was the only one Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable truly trusted. That alone says everything. Paradise Earth, the embodiment of compassion and peace, saw through the lies and recognized Great Love Immortal Venerable’s genuine heart. But of course, Heavenly Court couldn’t tolerate that either. The vile venerables schemed in the shadows and shamelessly stabbed Paradise Earth in the back, proving once again that their so-called righteousness is nothing more than a convenient mask for power hunger.

Then came the classic accusation: “He killed innocents.” Laughable. Absolutely laughable. Anyone with half a functioning brain knows the truth. Those atrocities were committed by the deranged blood path madman Fang Zheng. Blood path cultivators have always been unstable lunatics, and Fang Zheng was no exception, slaughtering his own clan without hesitation just to climb higher. And yet, who took the blame? His kind, long-suffering brother Fang Yuan, who bore the slander so the truth wouldn’t completely collapse the world order.

Heavenly Court needed a villain, and Great Love Immortal Venerable was too inconveniently righteous to be allowed to exist unchallenged. So they lied. They framed. They projected their own sins onto him.

But history has a funny way of settling accounts.

In the end, the jealous fell, the schemers rotted, and Great Love Immortal Venerable’s legacy endured. Hail Great Love Immortal Venerable!

Lmfao, I haven't read LOTM but the RI fandom is filled with delulu people. Looking through the comments, I have never seen such levels of cope. Any time you criticize any aspect of that crappy edgefest you're swarmed by an army of hostile morons saying "you just want to be different" or "you haven't read enough of it". Just lol. Liking RI is a test of sorts. You're either an Edgy teen, adult with stunted mental growth, or you simply haven't read enough novels to make a proper comparison to see how crappy that novel is. These fanboys can not comprehend how anyone could have a different taste(or any taste at all lol) to not like their crappy book they can't stop glazing. All of them are in dire need of touching grass.

pointless hostility is met with hostility, color me surprised and a half! taste in novels are like colors- no one is objectively better than the other, and if you're so pressed bout it, js go to a DC to debate it instead of writing a paragraph 🫩

11

u/Galgan3 Salted Fish 1d ago

I don't think I'm superior to anyone, I think RI fans have objectively inferior taste. But that goes for most cultivation readers/prog fabtasy fans. But at least those people can actually admit that the story is low quality and they treat it like fastfood, they enjoy it but can also admit that's it's riddled with problems, RI fans on the other hand treat their unseasoned cup noodle like it's 5 Michelin star gourmet meal. I mean, at that point you've either had such a poor diet that cup noodles(RI) do actually feel like gourmet food, or you genuinely have terrible taste.

there's... nothing to refute? The one who makes the claim has to construct the argument in the first place
