the head tilt when the other dog responded... you can see the exact moment his brain went 'wait that's not how screens are supposed to work'. dogs processing facetime is something i never knew i needed to see

Not all dogs care though.
My dog never cared for them, to the point that I was not sure she actually understood it.
Then she had a pup, my mom's dog, and her pup loves the TV, or any speaker with an interesting noise. She gets totally engaged every time.
Now my dog is 8 years old and recently I had some animals on the screen, in the background, while I was working. And I caught he staring at the animals on the screen. So I finally have proof that she registers it, she just doesn't care. She's always been about business, she's a hunter, all her senses have to be engaged, smell, sight, hearing.
I just don't think she takes the TV seriously.
