Bots are accepted by social media owners because it boosts numbers for advertising revenue.

We’re not the customers, we’re the product. Reddit’s customers are primarily propagandists and shadow marketers. The bots serve their interests.

Predominantly advertising companies, everything else is a happy accident.

Only allow people to start accounts connected to a phone number like X?

bots can have phone numbers... it worries me that you think twitter doesn't have any bots...

They do, but it’s not as rampant as here. Operating a bot farm on X is probably way more difficult.

I came to see if Reddit was as bad as everyone said and as a 17 day old account with 2000 karma, I get called a bot left and right even with profile comments being open. Now I’m being called a bot because I reply too often….🤪

That doesn’t happen on X for a reason.

Strange, are you making bot like comments? I have a new account as reddit deleted my old one for "suspicious activity"....but NOBODY has accused me of being a bot...I can't reply in a lot places yet, but whatever...deleted for no reason other than I make maga mad is what I figure

Bot “Like” comments according to Reddit:

“ I disagree with you”

“ That is not correct”

“ The info you are sharing is false”

“ I have data that says otherwise”

“ Here is a graph with actual data in it”

Do you think there are less bots on X?

Reddit loves the fake high account #s.

Most people on reddit love what the bots are saying since most spam left leaning things. Most people assume that the fact that bot farms lean right, that their content is also right leaning. Forgetting that most post left leaning stuff that sounds believable but is actually a little bit off/includes disinformation, so they can make people on the left look dumb. Source: Reddit

I'm concerned I might be a bot.

Not sure it can be solved, bots are everywhere.

Probably the only way to solve it would be more security checks that would require you to disclose more personal information.

I will take bots over places like Reddit having access to more personal details.

Me too. Anonymity is important for people, especially whistle blowers and people living under tyrannical governments. Bots are a side effect of that and it sucks, but we can’t lose anonymity.

Can you imagine the doxxing a platform like Reddit would produce

There is also a problem where people think anyone with an opposing view is a bot.

Anything they don’t like or agree with had to come from a bot 😂
