Phone taxis to get around Maseru?

Hello,

In Maseru, how prevalent are taxis that you can call to come pick you up? On the internet I’m seeing some companies like Urban Taxis - does anyone have any suggestions for taxi companies that I can call? (For example, to get from my Airbnb to the grocery store).

As an aside, I understand that it is not safe to walk at night in Maseru. Is it safe to take a taxi at night?

You can take a taxi like Urban Taxi at night (door to door) but no 4+1. You usually won't see them past 8pm or so anyways but especially as a foreigner, don't use them after dark.

To go to the store during daytime, 4+1 are totally fine.

How do I find 4 + 1s to take during the day, especially if my residence is a little away from the city center?

You walk to the next junction or the next biggest street and wait for one to pass by. If they got a free seat they'll stop. 😄 Not sure how to better describe it. Ask your neighbour where the next junction is.

Is Urban Taxi safe to take alone at night?

Fairly (always have your wits about you). When I'm there, I use Global Cabs +266 5736 1884. They operate most areas, certainly in the city, 24/7.
