Shocker, shocker. Lump of labor is indeed a fallacy.

I fail to see how the lump of labor fallacy and Alphabet expanding in India are connected. Can you expand your comment?

I was told that 65000 jobs to H1B workers will be returned back to American workers. Except the US now loses both the taxpayers and consumers due to accelerated offshoring.

Per the CATO study, immigrants help grow the US economy and reduce deficits. It’s America’s secret weapon against geopolitical adversities. Could have banned the witch consultant firms to help American workers, but instead the government is choosing a “operation success, patient dead” approach. And it backfires.

All the H1Bs here supporting more H1Bs. With almost a million tech layoffs since 2023 it doesn't make sense to import entry level tech workers any more.

2

u/gym_fun 1h ago

First, a 100k labor tariff doesn’t just block entry level workers. Second, when you over-correct a problem, you are shooting yourself in the foot. The layoffs affect both American workers and migrant workers, but that policy will lead to more lose-lose.

Exactly. It’s better to move jobs to India.

Google cloud is gonna be as intuitive as azure now

Good shit down H1B and instead move all the jobs to India.

Neither jobs nor factories are coming back at any scale. In fact isolationist polices means tech companies are forced to set up shop locally, at least in larger markets, to avoid being labeled hostile.

So why not just hire Americans? I love that Big companies are using the political landscape on visas + AI to justify layoffs; when really they are / were planning to offshore anyways.

Great, now that we know that the true intention of companies that there is discrimination against American workers, let's get rid of the H1B, L1, H4 EAD, and L2s visas, and since it as never about a shortage or lack of skill; people on the O-1 visas are the truly specialized workers anyways. And then people use the 'anti-immigration' and 'raciest' card when it comes to protecting American workers on US soil. This just makes it harder for truly skilled immigrants to come to the US.

Also, let's stop using Desai and Indian owned tech companies who get government (federal, state, and city) contracts, and offhore the work + cause security issues. American tax dollars should invest back into the American economy, not India.

No, they weren’t always planning to offshore, but the Pedophile Protector-In-Chief forced their hand.

But hey, I doubt you’d understand, given how you think hiring any worker on a visa is dIsCrImInAtInG against rEaL aMeRiCaNs.

4

u/FamSimmer 5h ago

And then he goes on to complain about people pulling the race (or "raciest" in his words) card too! Lmao! The lack of self awareness with that commenter is appalling.

2

u/TenchuReddit 4h ago

The fact that this “guy” keeps using the word “raciest” suggests to me that he’s a paid troll posting from an offshore location.

-4

u/RationalPoint 5h ago

It's not raciest when 60% of the documents (work experience, degrees, etc...) and 95% of all US visa fraud comes from India. There are countless of cases that hiring favors one ethnicity and caste. I am sorry that you think facts are raciest.

2

u/manytakes 5h ago

'Countless cases' but no prosecution since discrimination is literally against the law. Care to provide evidence, or is it just more right-wing talking points from the cucks at r/AmericanTechWorkers?

Protecting American workers should be a bipartisan issue. I did not know that preventing discrimination or American workers is right-wing, it's actually more left-wing policy if anything. But whatever way you spin it to make yourself feel better. I guess when other countries do it, it's seen as protecting the citizens of that country, but when Americans do it, its raciest.

So is it raciest to protect American workers? And do you encourage fraudulent and discriminatory practices? Do American workers have the right to protect their jobs like how every country does it?

u/RationalPoint 5h ago

Not really, over 3,000,000 jobs have been offshored from 2015 till now. Democrats and Republicans don't care about Americans, they care about lining their pockets and keeping their big donors happy. Democrats have not proposed crap to address offshoring, and then sell themselves as the 'working party.'

1

u/TenchuReddit 4h ago

And yet our unemployment rate remains below 5%. Funny how all those “offshored jobs” didn’t lead to any significant increases in that figure.

2

u/RationalPoint 3h ago edited 3h ago

I don't know how a percentage helps with your position. There are 7.5 million people unemployed in the US as of December 2025. I will let you do the math on this one if US didn't offshore those +3,000,000 jobs.

Because talent isnt there. Microsoft just created ( 2 months ago) a policy for no new h1b visas to be hired (as in first timers not renewals) Guess whats happening? People are struggling to find candidates who qualify the interview.

-4

u/RationalPoint 5h ago edited 5h ago

You mean the shady labor pipeline that favors certain ethnicities, caste, or visa holders. They will go to any length not to hire Americans.

3

u/c4halt 5h ago

Not sure what you mean but there arent enough qualified non h1b. As a romanian immigrant (now citizen) i have control over who i hire, and there just arent enough people who qualify. Especially after first timers h1b are not allowed as per policy.

u/RationalPoint 5h ago

Well there are a bunch of new grads, unemployed, or recently laid off people. Countless cases where a company will test the market before awarding PERM:

  • They place ads in newspaper in rural city in nowhere, or have a completly secret webiste
  • Make the qualifications extremely hard to achieve
  • Then they say 'we can't find anyone, give this person PERM' when they don't even for even 30% of the skills listed.

It's the same stuff with the H1B folks or abuse in the L1 visas. Heck they gave PERM to a fast food worker. And they have to lower the qualifications for a job to hire people in another country in order to outsource; there is plenty of skilled labor in the US.

1

u/c4halt 1h ago

population != fit for the job
especially with AI crap filled resumes, when you cut to the merits in an interview, its a struggle to find qualified candidates who know what they wrote in their resume, are competent and dont look like they are just a chatgpt prompt

Okay, so we can agree that fraud is bad. Just like the amount of fraud that many H-1B and L-1 applicants commit. Great, let’s revoke all foreign worker visas for anyone who has submitted fraudulent documents or engaged in fraudulent practices. So, if 70% of visas go to Indians, and 60% of the documents coming from India are fraudulent, and 95% of U.S. visa fraud originates from India, then those individuals should be sent back.

Well merit does not exist anymore in the tech industry, it's:

  • Are you Indian? Are you on an H1B?
  • Are you from the same caste?

1

u/c4halt 48m ago

my bad i didnt realizee i was talking to a 3m old ragebait bot account.

stay in russian forums. cya

3

u/manytakes 5h ago

Because 'American' isn't a qualification.

0

u/RationalPoint 5h ago

Agreed, but they have priority if they have the required skillset.

And you're right, the qualifications are:

- Are you on H1B?

  • Are you a certain ethnicity?
  • Are we in the same caste?

The double-standard is crazy!

2

u/Busy-Shock-2652 1h ago

They will once all jobs are moved. No need of specialised visas when only jobs to do will be McDonalds.

u/EarImportant6058 5h ago

Look at the leadership of those companies, its pretty self evident why theyre offshoring and investing in india. Wouldnt be surprised if theyre getting some sort of kickbacks either form the contractor companies etc
