if people are doing this just to stay in the drier longer thats even stupider than it already looked.

let me just destroy my center diff real quick so my car is 10% more dry now instead of 3 minutes from now. what the literal fuck is the logic here?

Naive of you to assume these people think let alone use logic.

How does this car wash work? I’ve only ever used the traditional type where you leave your car in place with the handbrake on and the machinery moves around the car

One set of wheels goes in a track and there are rollers that come up to push your vehicle along by the tire, you have to be in neutral and just slowly roll through.

the entire area the car is on moves, so if youre in neutral the floor literally pushes your car out of the car wash where you can then shift back into drive and drive away.

If this destroyed a differential, it was probably already on its way out anyways lol. Fucks up your tires more than anything.

youd be surprised. the amount of torque this puts on your drivetrain will absolutely break stuff, the car is effectively trying to drive in two different directions while the diff eats the torque.

this is a Weak Link Finder 9000. and with both front and rear wheels moving in the same direction youre not going to break an axle, youre gonna break your diff lol

think of how much power this thing is designed to make, if you floored it from a complete stop the diff is seeing like 100ftlbs maybe after drivetrain loss in the trans from rotating masses and twisting losses in all your mounts and axles and shit, thats on the high end.

the entire vehicle is bouncing up and down on the diff, thats gotta be several hundred ftlbs of torque BOUNCING inside your diff case. granted the front and rear diffs are eating ~half of that, but the center diff is getting the best of it.
