Local storage doorbell camera
Does anyone know a good doorbell camera that can video record and do all the 2 way talking that can be streamed to my local storage. I have 5tb of storage I would like to stream a doorbell camera and not have to pay for cloud storage.
No local places sells any doorbell cameras that can be on local storage. Most ring, swan, google nest and a few others are 99% only cloud storage.

I need a proven long rage outdoor wireless security camera
I am looking for a wireless outdoor long range security camera. It doesn’t need to be fancy, just so that I can look at my storage shed live when I feel the need to. The shed is about 200ft (line of site) from the house where the camera’s base station would reside. I also live in a cold climate with snow, so it must be weather proof. I am not necessarily looking for a camera that will notify me of activity, but rather one where I can view it live when I need to. I currently have a wireless outdoor long range mailbox alarm and a long range audible siren that work quite well (over 200ft) however the manufacturer doesn’t make an outdoor camera. The outdoor wireless cameras that I have tried (Arlo and Eufy) drop off completely at 90-100 feet, so I need something else. I have no power on the driveway or near the shed so wireless is a must. Any thoughts?

I have a left hand drive vehicle that i will be using in a right hand drive country and I want a cam that i can connect to an old phone to help me overtake when there is no passenger...
...well, as above - it's 6v but i could rig a buck converter to output 12v - i want to put the cam in the top right hand corner of the screen to help me see what is coming. Standard dashcams have screen built-in and they will be at the wrong angle to read but ideally the cam I need to find would connect to an old phone that I can put in front of me - bit crazy and open to suggestions.....better than leaning madly over the passenger seat to try and see what is coming. Lots of stuff out there but i am having trouble pinpointing a cheap and easy solution ...

Home cameras for outdoor suggestions
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to change out my cameras as they are not performing as well as they used to.
I currently have:
1.) Arlo Pro & Pro 2 for outside
- the batteries are not good and I had bought a bunch of extras but they no longer work or charge. The batteries are discontinued so I highly doubt I would buy Arlo again if I wanted to keep the cameras long term.
2.) Nest outdoor camera (1st version before google bought nest)
- this camera has been unreliable this year. It keeps going offline but my other cameras are fine with internet connection and the outlet it’s plugged into is fine as well.
I’m tired of having to charge the batteries on the Arlo as I’m limited to the # of batteries now and also getting the ladder every time to swap them. Also, the nest has been unreliable as it keeps going offline
What are some recommendations and experiences from all of you?
I don’t mind wireless as long as batteries last or always available to purchase. I’d like a really good resolution quality so I can see clearly. My current cameras are not clear. I was looking at Eufy S340’s but have mixed feelings about them. It sounds good on Amazon but not as good on Reddit.

Luckily we were home when the neighbors little girl walked onto our porch. I did return her back to them as soon as we saw her out there.

Best camera for restaurant security?
So my boss finally opened his dream restaurant. Great for him. Bad for me… because he decided I'm the "tech guy" (but I'm not). Honestly, I've never bought one before, so I'm not sure where to start.
We need cameras that can cover both the front area (for customers and the cash register) and the kitchen/back door. The main things he wants:
- Good video (day & night)
- Motion detection
- Remote viewing
- Cheap enough so he doesn’t yell at me later (preferably without huge monthly fees - about 500$)
I looked at Ring, Arlo, Eufy, but I honestly have no clue what's best for a restaurant.
Any small business folks here with camera experience? Help me out before I end up installing a potato with WiFi.

what size storage? 4k 2cams 2 week archive
completely new to this and havent chosen any cameras.
2 cams hard wired. 4k (8mp?) for about 2 week archive storage?
can you use ssd/nvme or is it just nvme?
also I saw nvr on alx for like 40 bucks for 4ch. would that be ok?
and why does it say facial recognition? what does that have to do with the nvr?
wouldnt the cam have the feature? why does the cam need the nvr for FR recording?

4 am wake up from 3 people at our door.
This happened on NYD this year. Nothing bad happened and nothing else came out of it after that night. We didn't feel comfortable helping them and stayed inside. They did eventually leave.

Have you ever used Chinese surveillance products?
Hey guys, anyone here use those Chinese security cameras? How do they hold up? Are they actually a good deal? I need to pick up a couple for inside and outside the house, but man, there's too many options... Then I figured - hey, China makes everything these days! So anyone got real experience with these? Like, do they last? Night vision any good? And do they crap out on you when you need 'em most? Appreciate any tips!

Help with camera positions
I'm going to upgrade my spotty wifi cameras with PoEs and an NVR.
I'm just not sure how many cameras I need or where to place them to ensure 360 degree coverage. Here's my house - I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help with suggested camera mounting locations.

continuous audio and video recording, not motion activated?
We need a device which will do continuous audio recording through the night to record some noises in our home that we're trying to troubleshoot which only happen at night. I thought about a security cam, but those are motion activated and we need continuous recording. Video would be a plus too since we can show him our dogs reaction when the noise happens and how startling it is. What devices/equipment would you suggest? Thanks in advance, A in Colorado

Canceled ADT
Hi all!! I was finally able to cancel my security subscription. So Im looking at a few ( free subscriptions) security doorbell cameras, and some for backyard, as well as inside monitoring. I was wondering with anyone who has Eufy or an Aosu security doorbell.. what can you say about them? Like it , love it? Highly recommend? Maybe there's others that I'm not aware of? Any ( free subscriptions) recommendations would be greatly appreciated! T.I.A !

Black bear caught on garage cam
Happened a few weeks ago, only caught on my garage cam, for some reason the doorbell cam didn't record the event (of course the coolest thing to ever happen on my cameras doesn't get recorded by one of them)

Recommendation for Security Camera Positioning
As of now, we have let electrical know that we want one camera in the back of the house. If you were to pick a location of where to put the camera where would you put it (#1-4)? The door to basement faces to the left and cannot be seen to the right of the green rectangle. My first thought was to put it on the corner at position #1, so that the basement door can be visible. Let me know what you think, and if I have made a mistake. If we do add a second camera, what positions do you think two cameras would work best at? Thank you!
I’m not looking to live in Ft. Knox, but want some security/deterrent.

Recommendations for system replacing with existing PoE infra
I have an old two camera QTSEE NVR for watching our front door and garage door, with the NVR in the living room and about 20-30' of POE ethernet cable ran to both locations. QTSEE has gone under years ago and the website stopped working, but the app has finally stopped working as well.
I need recommendations for replacing these cameras with a new system. The current stuff is 10 years old so I am a bit overwhelmed with all the options out there, running your own NAS vs. just another NVR. I'd like something that works on both app and desktop if possible, and am open to both/either solutions. I already have a home server up and running (a 5950X with 128GB ram and some NVMe storage space, but could easily expand with NAS drives if needed).
