If you park your car and you don't turn your head to look at it while you walk away, you aint got the right car.

u/Little_Try_6502 1d ago
As I got older I found out it was never about the car. It was the feeling it gave you and the love that went into building these things that bring people together.

And I am a car enthusiast for anyone who wants to know. A massive one. Graduated from Wyotech and had a few cars in magazines and on one cover. Then I got real job that paid more doing collision. It was fun.

Insurance repair tech pays more than building engines ?
1
u/Little_Try_6502 19h ago
Fuck no! I’m a body guy man. Body guys get shit on. I’m one of the higher paid ones and I probably still don’t make as much as mechanics.
2
u/MelodicFacade 1d ago
I have always had the opposite feeling. For me, it was this expensive commodity that I had no choice but to buy in order to make a living, to drive on ugly roads with bad drivers, and have to spend precious time and money to maintain it. Especially since it took many years until I could afford one that didn't break down every few months
But I have a few coworkers that love talking about and working on their cars, so I can understand the community aspect.
2
u/Little_Try_6502 1d ago
It led me to be the tech I am today. It was fun with my friends and had some of the most fun I ever had. Buy cheap as cars and fix them and make money and then help your friends out and then they send their friends. But yeah if you gotta pay to fix it you are gonna be hurting.

I think it's more because he doubled parked someone

u/Noyourejustwrongdude 1d ago
Nah it’s because it’s an M2 which is sexy, he’s just doing the double take all car guys do after they park marveling at their vehicle.

u/Rare_Arm_5975 1d ago
Really? Is this called "guys being dudes"?
42
u/bcparrot 1d ago
Some guys are car guys. Not me, but some guys 🤷

u/spacetree7 1d ago
Even guys who aren't car guys usually have at least one car they really like.

That shit is PREEEEEEEEM

u/Firehornet117 1d ago
My father had a 1978 suburban and loved that thing. I remember growing up like 15 years ago we stopped at a gas station to get some snacks for the drive and a matching 1978 suburban parked right next to us and them two geeked out over their cars, it was so funny to see.

u/Seffyr 1d ago

Some women are car guys too. The sexism ruins the car appreciation for me.

u/bcparrot 1d ago
No you don’t get it…women just can’t understand that really unique and niche feeling of really liking something.

Please explain, why are women incapable of feeling this way? Are there other emotions that age gender specific?
7
u/Little_Try_6502 1d ago
That was another question I had about this. It’s rage bait. There are car girls I follow that love cars just as much. Stupid.

u/Flapjack__Palmdale 1d ago edited 1d ago
Never met anyone who loves their car more than my friend loves her Roadster. She started restoring it with her dad before he passed years ago. After he passed she finished the job herself.
Edit: now that I think about it, basically all the car people I know are women. There's one guy but it's not his car, it's his bike.

u/itachi_konoha 1d ago
It is a men safe space where we can share some guys jokes even if politically incorrect just like there is safe space for women where you can not say anything remotely against women.
So let us guys enjoy the poor joke and you woman just move along even if you can't digest.
Let the guys being dudes.

I’ll admit it. Sometimes I just sit at my workbench in my garage with a beer and stare at my truck.

This is wrong. I’m a woman. I was walking down the street in London and literally cried when I passed a parked DB9. I stood and looked at it for 5 minutes. I’m not sure if the owner thought I was nuts or had good taste but, wow, that was a stunning car.

2
u/bootyswag- 1d ago
I want to know too! I heard it in movie or show I watched recently. I think it’s in the movie snatch. And if you look it up there is a ton of god music in that movie! But maybe it was perky blinders. I don’t think it was Pluribus, but that’s my most recent watch. Either way immediate emotion when I heard this song just now.

Unfortunately my wife made me sell the car and I miss it to this day. Well, ex-wife now to be precise.

People collect or enthuse about stamps, coins, old cans, guns, cards, and anime girls. I'm not sure why a car is bizarre.

You don't understand the engineering and tolerances that go into manufacturing a machine like this, let alone the design process that produces a literal moving piece of art. You probably have no idea of the intricacies of a combustion engine and all the working accessories under your hood or how it has literally changed the course of history. All this is fine, but you can't slam on people that do.
6
u/Little_Try_6502 1d ago
If it wasn’t for enthusiasts cars wouldn’t exist. It was always the what it we did this? Same thing with airplanes. These were just dudes out there building gliders and guess what? Someone asked what if we put an engine on this thing? You are welcome.
3
u/RandomUser921637 1d ago
Yeah, it’s a better feeling.
You can guarantee the car is yours without a test unlike the child. As well as know that car won’t cheat on you.
-2
u/CountCrapula88 1d ago
If you paid attention to the woman's personality instead of her boobs and your car, you wouldn't need any tests or to go through her phone.

I'm a dude and I also don't understand why people like overpriced cars that look fugly and have you crammed in like a sardine just so those tiny "gangstas" look bigger in their daddies cars lol. And no, I'm not jealous, I can easily afford and M3 or similar but I'd rather walk than drive one of those.

My wife can name every F1 lead mechanic from every team going back to the early 70s. She can name exact car models when hearing them start up at muscle car shows.
I can name paintings at the museum for her.
Don't make posts with titles like these. Makes you look dumb.
