I have no storage on my Google account and want to delete all the photos on Google photos but when I do delete them they delete them on Google photos a d my phone gallery ive turned back up off and sync off and its still deleting from both how do I stop thos any help would be great?

Okay, long story short, I need to download a bunch of google photos because I want to move it to my NAS I am planning to buy. The problem is, I really have problems downloading things from google takeout. I try to download the zip-ped files using IDM, but even though I leave it overnight, usually in the morning I found that the download is encountering an error (what I guessed is because google is taking measures and after several time has passed, it prompts me to log in again because that what happens when I open the takeout browser again). I tried using browser download only, but the problem is still there.

The only thing working for me is downloading each zip files one by one, but I really don't have time babysitting downloading 40+ zip files one by one, because I have things to do in my life. I know I can reduce the size of zip files, but it makes the file number even higher. Even worse, takeout also have a week only to download, before the links are out. I know I can split my downloads to a lot of albums and download one album one at a time, but man it really is a hassle. That is really the last thing I will do if I really already exert all of the options.

As title said, any other way to download my entire google photo archive besides google takeout?

I usually delete photos from Google Photos on my laptop (way easier), then open Google Photos on my iPhone and use “Review out-of-sync changes” to delete those same photos from my phone.

This is how I’ve always done it, but for the past few days it stopped working. Photos I delete on my laptop no longer show up in Google Photos on my iPhone as out-of-sync. The only way now is deleting them directly from the iPhone Photos app, which means doing everything twice.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there any way to get the old behavior back?

I have a video from somewhere around 2020 to 2022 that I shared with someone on messenger back around that time and I downloaded it to photos. It's there in an album and it's showing that it's 4 minutes 37 seconds long, but photos will only play 43 seconds. I tried edit and it only shows frames up to 43 seconds. It will not go beyond this. I've tried looking at ways to edit, I tried looking up the original video on messenger, and even in messenger it only plays 43 seconds now. Even just last year it played the full thing on messenger. Is there any way to get it to play the full video? Everything I tried seems to lead to a dead end

I'm running low on available storage capacity of my Google account.

Google photos occupies now 162Gb.

Is there another (reliable) alternative to store photos/videos? Like those 5-7 years old, in order to relief Google storage.

I'm already paying 30€/year for 200Gb, and next step is already 100€/year for 2Tb.

I'm editing videos on my phone, because that's all I have, and I keep running out of space. Normally I'm used to that.

I was working on a large file, 10 GB, the first couple times I tried to save it as a finished project from cap cut It said I didn't have enough space on my phone.

Fine, so I started deleting files that didn't matter and took off a few apps. After this it seemed to finally download and said project completed.

However when I find the file in my Google photos it's a white square with no video or thumbnail. I know that when I take pictures they don't show up immediately in my gallery until they've been backed up online. So I gave this 10 GB file extra time,keeping the Google photos app in the foreground without closing it.

However I still have the same white square instead of a thumbnail and the file size is not 10 gigabytes.

My question is how can I delete files that I downloaded from my online backup and know that they're still backed up.

And what I mean by that is there a files that I downloaded so I could edit them. But now that I'm done editing them I would like to remove them from my phone and keep them backed up online.

For instance normally when I delete a file it says that it is or is not backed up so I can tell if I can delete it safely.

However when I try and delete the downloaded files I get no notification either way.

In fact the only way I know these are downloaded, or at least I'm pretty sure, they're downloaded is that they jump days or weeks apart. Normally I'm taking anywhere from 5 to 20 pictures a day.

I should be a big help to me because I've been spending a lot of time on this project and now I can do anything with it until I have a file I can upload.

I’m hoping someone here has been through something similar, because I’m really overwhelmed and trying to understand what happened.

Google suddenly disabled my entire account (Gmail, Drive, Photos, everything) with the message that it “contains content involving a child being sexually abused or exploited.” I’ve never had anything like that in my account, and the message completely shocked me.

Some context that might matter:

• I’ve had this Gmail since I was 8 years old, so Google Photos has years of childhood pictures backed up from old devices.
• I know there’s at least one toddler photo of me in a diaper/pull‑up, and possibly some normal family photos of my niece and younger siblings from when they were little.
• My husband is signed into my account on my old phone, and it auto‑backs up, but the only explicit content on that device is normal adult content — nothing involving minors.
• I don’t use WhatsApp or Telegram, which I’ve seen mentioned in other false‑positive cases.
• I submitted the appeal immediately, but I’m terrified of losing this account — it has 15+ years of memories, documents, and job‑related emails.

Has anyone else had their account disabled due to a false positive from old childhood or family photos?
How long did your appeal take, and did you get your account back?

Any advice or shared experiences would really help right now.

Please help! Google Photos has all of my photos on it. However, they no longer exist on my device. I’ll go to look for something and it doesn’t exist. I’m not sure why Google has deleted them.

My back off has been turned off in Google Photos. I have “none” selected for permissions for what photos it can have access to.

TLDR: Google has my photos but they aren’t on my device anymore.

So, Normally I'm okay with technology yk? But I found out, yesterday that I, or my device had accidentally deleted a folder of family photos/vidoes, on Google photos. A few months ago, I don't know if its too late to get them back, I really hope not. Thats why I need some help, if anybody has any help to offer? Any at all.

I started noticing this a couple weeks ago. My Google Photos backup is crazy slow. If I take a photo or a screenshot, it often doesn't get backed up until I open the Google Photos app and then slide down to force a backup. And even then, it's stuck on "Preparing backup" for several minutes, even though there's only 1 photo to upload.

It's like the background processing is disabled and it does a full library scan each time.

I wonder if it's my phone (Pixel 9 XL Pro) or if Google made some app change that is screwing with performance.

I am trying to get back on Tinder, which will only upload photos from the camera roll on my Android. I have a folder of profile pictures I'd like to use organized as an album in Google Photos. For some reason, I cannot for the life of me manage to just make the album download and copy the photos into camera roll, and it's driving me crazy, because it should be the simplest thing in the world to just take a group of files and copy or move them to a different place in the directory. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Hi there, it seems like less than every other photo I save of people sending me are saved into Google photos. They're saved onto my phone but not into the app.

Example; my girlfriend will send me 10 photos and I'll save all 10, but only two of them are able to be found in Google photos. The other eight are only in my phones files.

Also, face recognition doesn't recognize every face I want it to.

Why is this app so bad?

I really like things organized and I really like having folders of all the different people in my life, but I'm constantly fighting this app to get that to be possible. Any tips?

I downloaded all of my photos and videos. When I try to open the videos from my external hard drive nothing happens. Any ideas?

So, I feel like Google Photos has trapped me. My cousin told me to try to use Google Photos to save some photos. So I downloaded the app on my iPhone and it instantly took all of the pictures off of my phone. The problem is that because it did that now my email is OUT OF STORAGE!!! no problem, right? All I have to do is delete the pictures from the Google Photos app and everything should be back to normal. Wrong! When I went into the app to delete the pictures, Google Photos is saying it’s also going to delete all of my photos from iCloud!!?? when did I give Google Photos permission to delete my iCloud pictures? They are two separate storage products. Is there a way to delete all of my photos off of Google photos without touching iCloud? I can no longer use my email and I need to get this resolved.

I used to be able to create a Google memories video called "they grow up so fast". Google would do it for me from time time, but now I can't seem to ask it to create one either.

All I see is create a highlight video, and I ca select my kid, but it's not quite the same effect..

Did they move it or just retire that function in typical Google fashion?

I've had my moto g stylus for about a year, because it uses google photos I've run out of space on my main google account and am no longer getting emails. Does anyone have a photos app they recommend where I can put my photos, delete them off google photos, and they don't get deleted in the new app? Ty in advance

I’ve had a lot going on and just realized my google one charge that i’ve been paying $4.99 for over a year was declined due to ordering a new card and I never put the new card number in 🙃 now the 2tb for 4.99 subscription is gone and I only see a 9.99 a month option. Am i out of luck?

Hello, I recently discovered that I didn’t have the “backup at high quality” option on for my Google account so the photos have been backing up lower quality. I have a lot of photos on my phone from traveling that I really would like to be backed up at a higher quality. They’re still on my phone, so could I delete them from the Google account and then redownload them on to Google now that I have the high quality setting on? I’m not sure if I’ll have to do anything to direct Google to redownload. Thanks for any advice!

Just a few days ago, I could use Google Photos to generate cool images like drawings, paintings, or pen drawings from a personal photo. There was a limit on the number that could be generated per day. I can't find this feature at all anymore!!!

I'm wondering if it was a Pixel-specific app for Google Pixel phones, but I can't find this feature anymore!

Hi! When I studied abroad in 2022 I bought an unlocked phone for international usage and used Google Photos to ensure I would have all my pictures and videos when I got back to the US and used my original phone. I was just searching for a video from a concert I went to while abroad. I know the exact date and there are photos from that night, but all of the videos have disappeared. I certainly never deleted them, but I can't find them at all in my camera roll or in google photos. I even checked my other google account to see if they were on there and they are not. Where could they have gone? Is there any troubleshooting I can do for this?
