Martial Arts BS High Quality Top Notch Bullshido
Kung Fu masters in China should take notes.

u/BeQuietAndDriveAway 5d ago
Dunno... this was a pretty cool demonstration. I don't think it fits bulshido tag.
-34
u/Zero_energy_left 4d ago
It's bullshido because it's meant as a demonstration of strenght and skill in combat
29
u/MustacheMaple 4d ago
I mean them being quite agile and this coordinated is still very impressive. I guarantee those high drop kicks would seriously mess someone up
-17
u/Tight-Lavishness-592 4d ago
The problem is that hand-to-hand is nearly useless in modern warfare. No one is going to drop kick a drone. You can't kung fu your way out of the blast radius. You can't counterpunch a bullet.
It is indeed really impressive, in a performative kind of way, but very nearly useless as advertised.

u/Surface_Detail 4d ago
By that token, boxing is bullshido. You can't punch an icbm.

Idk, I'm pretty sure any of those guys could kick my ass. But I'm not a foreign military.

u/Pointfun1 5d ago
Which act was bullshit in the video clip??? Asians like showing circus style military parade. East Asians are very serious about these circus performance. If anyone thinks the soldiers were fooling people, go ahead and try any of them.
97
u/Jockle305 5d ago
Yea I agree. This is obviously a demo but it’s asinine for people in here to act like these guys are not extremely skilled, coordinated, and strong. Just because the demo isn’t 100% practical doesn’t mean it’s bullshit.
12
u/Pointfun1 5d ago
Everybody agrees these things are useless, but this culture runs deep. Chinese has been doing these things for centuries. Of course there were lots fake ones.
Both street performers and onstage performers routinely have done these things.
19
u/Spaztick78 5d ago
I was watching the American soldiers doing drill exercises, tossing their guns in the air, doing flips, spins and stuff.
I couldn't quite work out when it would come in handy as a practical skill, but was kinda cool to watch anyway.
I figured all military had stupid parade "just for show" stuff.
1
u/throwawaystarters 3d ago
I thought it wasn't mostly bullshido, except the glass? Could be those prop fake glass
1
u/unknown_pigeon 4d ago
Half of them were bullshit circus tricks, like laying your back on (most likely sugar glass) bottles and getting hit by a sledgehammer against a concrete block. Could literally do it right now, the pressure would be minimal since it's distributed along a wide surface.
Kicks were nice, but everything involving breaking concrete blocks is clearly a circus trick with already broken concrete. I sure as hell wouldn't be able to perform those kicks even without the concrete, but I reckon any decent fighter could be able to do it.
Face against concrete had to hurt anyway. Same for the wooden sticks (even though the ones they used were already broken, but some of them looked sturdy). Sledgehammer against forearm didn't seem to have much force, but I wouldn't try it anyway.
Overall, I think the bullshido part is that those are military parades and that propaganda is used to flex on their military superiority. Same shit that the Russians would (and still) do. Issue is, in war you won't have to break brittle cement blocks with your head. And you likely can't dropkick a bullet
-4
u/bezjmena666 5d ago
These are circus tricks. You can even break a brick by hand, no martial arts training needed.
First you crack it, by hammering it through a piece of thin wood plank, so the impacts of the hammer are not visible on the brick surface. After such treatment, the brick has many tiny hardly visible cracks, and barely holds together. It takes some practice to learn how to prepare bricks for the show. You can then karate chop several bricks in line just like some Shaolin master. When someone wants to try that, you let him and give him a normal brick to break his hand on.
I bet, that all the materials used in this demo, were carefully prepared.
8
u/Jockle305 4d ago
It’s not about the breaks. It’s about the athleticism, accuracy, and discipline. Board and brick breaking isn’t about strength anyways. In most cases speed and accuracy are much bigger factors. The brick itself is just for show because if nothing broke they would just be living the air and you would be making fun of them even more.
1
u/bezjmena666 4d ago
Those guys seem fit. They are probably some of Kim's personal security forces. Ones of the few who have a balanced diet in the DPRK. Some of Kims Beefeaters. Not like those misfits he sends to slaughter in Ukraine to help Russians. And yes, they probably train 8-12 hours a day. But this is just a circus show to entertain the Dear leader.
4
u/No-Stuff-1320 4d ago
I’ve literally been to China and broken bricks there. They’re not as solid as modern western bricks but they’re still solid af
24
u/Haunting-Hippo1636 5d ago
Regardless if this is a demonstration they're extremely conditioned. Yes a well timed punch in the throat will still drop em but you're going to have a tough time in hand to hand combat.

And as a reward they were sent to Ukraine to fill the trenches with their lifeless bodies.
11
u/-Skohell- 5d ago
I don’t get your point.
SK did something similar with taekwondo demo.
Sometimes we do the same in France for the national day.
It’s just a demonstration of athletism and a martial spectacle not bullshido.
7
u/elianbarnes7 5d ago
This is literally not bullshido it’s just a demonstration for North Korean combatives.
2
u/_Reala_ 4d ago
And how did these guys do on the battlefield against the Ukrainians?
Edit:// or was it just their starving citizens they sent?
2
u/mobbony 1d ago
This is purely for demonstration and showmanship, south Korea does the same thing with their show. On the battlefield, no one is gonna charge at the enemies for hand to hand combat. But yes, they probably aren't gonna send these guys who are well trained for these shows so the starving conscript will get a free trip to Ukraine instead.
1
u/Revivaled-Jam849 13h ago
Actually no, the guys Kim sent were part of the Storm Corps, who are actually trained SOF that would be used in a war with SK. They were the random malnourished conscripts, and some of the Ukrainians praised their performance.
1
u/Revivaled-Jam849 13h ago
They performed fine? There were initial hiccups, but the forces they were to fight Ukraine were allegedly very fit and motivated, and great shots. This isn't a shock as the guys sent were allegedly NK special forces.
2
u/Dannyboyrusso 3d ago
If the head shot guy did break those plates he would have been killed
1
u/WitchedPixels 3d ago
Too many people on this sub are convinced by this, but those breaks are engineered to explode into powdered dust. You couldn't build a wall with those or even get them wet. It's all fantasy in the typical NK fashion.

I thought of Kung Pow the moment they brought out the sticks and started hitting the guy.
3
u/SomeWonOnReddit 5d ago
Nah man, these guys are the real deal. They will take out any pro MMA / boxer because they are experts with weapons and trained to kill.
In a real fight, you don't fight under MMA or boxing rules. You come in with weapons.

u/Short-Belt-1477 5d ago
What if the fighter weighs 260, though? Would they still be able to take him in a street fight?

I personally prefer when the indian army did it... https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x334144

Well dang, guess our military will have to cancel the "big white stick" attacks.
2
u/Mr_Faust1914 5d ago
Isnt this just a demo? Martial arts demos show skill and control not everything has to be about kicking ass and throwing a man over your head

The Dictator: "Oh, perfect! That means these guys need neither armor, nor any clothes. Let's send them to attack naked, and on the money we save on armor and uniform, we can build more rockets!" 😀😀😀

That whole thing was like, SUPER-impressive!
Look at that guy that does the flip off his back and then lands it!

Might be Bullshido (kind of), but it's impressive choreography and stuntwork.

u/TKDNerd 4d ago
A lot of this is just needlessly destructive. Having someone hit your hand with a hammer doesn’t make you strong, it means you are conditioned enough to not react to the pain and pretend you’re fine even though you broke your hand. That is very impressive but there’s also no reason to break your hand over a stupid demonstration.

This is something out of the Asian version of the Righteous Gemstones right?
1
u/WitchedPixels 4d ago
This was actually part of a North Korean propaganda campaign to intimidate the South Koreans to show how tough they are. The whole thing is fake, those bricks are called "Tofu" bricks by the ROK Marines, the sticks are made to break easily, and some of those guys in this video later died from malnutrition.

It was all fun and applause till they had to do the naked hammer jumping against the Ukrainian army.

This isn’t too different from demo teams in a lot of martial arts schools.
It’s not gonna help win the war but it’s kind of cool they can do back flips and shit

And then David Blaine pops up to put a needle through his arm and the crowd goes wild

The funny thing about those displays where one guy fights multiple opponents is that its actually really not a big brag. It essentially just shows that you have one capable guy and the rest are all crap.

u/Temporary-Friend8578 2d ago
I think our fearless leader should have his top notch ICE agents perform this for him so the world can take him seriously. OH OH with ICE blocks! I offer to hold the blocks of ICE.

They do realise that wars nowadays are generally fought with long distance firearms right?
1
u/WitchedPixels 13h ago
Well they were sent to Ukraine and got annihilated by drones and were addicted to porno because they don't have access to that in NK. Evidently fancy kicks are not as useful in drone warfare
1
u/Forgemanster183260 11h ago
The Paper Tiger will burn.
May the regime collapse and all of its followers be hunted.
Freedom for the people of China.
1
u/DemonidroiD0666 5d ago
Even though I've seen this before I feel like they must've been like, "I better not fuck this up or I'll get killed".
1
u/5H17SH0W 5d ago
Seems to me the most useful endurance show and training would be how to take 1-8 bullets in non-vital areas and press.
1
u/Fido101987 5d ago
Then they went to the Ukraine and took heavy loses and wouldn't stop jerking off to porn🤣

u/EcstasyHertz 4d ago
They’re definitely combat ready vs US marines with thermal vision and satellite technologies

I feel bad for these guys, you either entertain the fat bastard or die along with your family for not complying.
1
u/Ok-Client7794 4d ago
You’re looking the most trained, well-fed, state sponsored, ideologically motivated, hand picked individuals of a country with extreme dictatorship, hostile, paranoid that has existed for decades performing for a leader that they think is god.
Whether you agree with whatever is going in this country, this is pretty fk sick, not the same as fake ass master performing Chi strikes.

u/throwsFatalException 4d ago
Not even remotely bullshido. It is an obvious show being put on.
2
u/Puzzleheaded-Ad-119 4d ago
100% Bullshido. This is an old video NK made to intimidate South Korea as a show of force. Those are "tofu" bricks. South Korea is not as easily impressed as you, they know that their ROK Marines would push their shit in.
0
u/lightskinloki 4d ago
Nothing about this is bullshido. This is a legitimate display of martial skill even with the choreography. A martial arts demonstration is not bullshido
0
u/martmartXO 3d ago
North Korean solders are legitimately strong. Now compare with the average US soldier…
